The role of an obstetrics and gynaecology doctor is a highly varied one, which is often the appeal for practitioners who enter this field. In obstetrics, you may be required to deal with complicated pregnancies and perform procedures such as caesarian sections. In gynaecology, you’ll work with women of all ages on everything from keyhole surgery to fertility treatment.
Our obs and gynae jobs offer negotiable rates of pay based on your level of experience and the location of the role within the UK. Those at SHO level typically start at £40+ per hour, with a consultant earning upwards of £90+ per hour. The salary information for your specific role will be displayed on the job description page.
To work in the UK as an obstetrician, you’ll need three A-levels in science subjects. This will be followed by an accredited medical degree, foundation programme, a specialist course in obstetrics, and then require enrolment in a specialist medical programme. You will also need to register with professional medical bodies.
