This means that a gastroenterology doctor could expect to earn £100+ at consultant level, and the specific rates of pay will be location on the respective job description page for any roles you’re interested in.
The first step to work in gastroenterology is to pass medical school, which requires excellent GCSE and A-level results, as well as a related bachelor’s degree (often in a scientific or medical field). Candidates can then take part in a two-year foundation programme, followed by specialty training in gastroenterology which takes a minimum of seven years.
Gastroenterology jobs will require you to lead a diverse team of medical professionals, so clear communication and organisational skills are a must. Your time-management abilities must be high to manage a range of patients, and your ability to diagnose and treat gastroenterological conditions should be unparalleled.
