These roles offer a unique experience to use your clinical expertise as part of a multi-disciplinary team and help to shape urgent care delivery across the wider healthcare system. We have ongoing locum roles available which includes evenings, weekends, and bank holidays – meaning you can choose the working hours that suit you.
What is it like to work for the London Ambulance Service?
As one of the world’s busiest ambulance services, each and every member of the team has a crucial role to play in the success of the organisation. It’s a 24-hour service, operating 365 days of the year with more than 8,000 staff and volunteers, comprising of 3,300 frontline crew, 500 people in the 999 control rooms as well as hundreds of support staff. The roles we are recruiting for are based within the 111 control centres in Barking and Croydon.
As a GP or Band 7 Advanced Practitioner, you will be delivering telephone-based clinical consultations and triage, whereas Band 6 Clinical Advisors will be providing telephone-based assessments of health and clinical needs.
Past, present and future
Formed in 1965 from a combination of a number of separate ambulance services, the LAS this month celebrates 60 years since its formation. Despite the history and legacy, there is a firm eye on the future. The LAS is working to achieve three important missions within a five-year strategy:
