This July, Athona celebrated recruiting a mammoth 50 new employees since we moved into our brand new head office by Brentwood station at the end of last year, below we meet our 51st recruit for 2019.
Here’s how they got on with their first week:
Stanley, Business Development Manager, for our acute division.
Where were you before joining Athona?
I worked as an Assistant Service Manager (Medicine) Care of the Elderly & Frailty for a Trust in Essex.
Have you been enjoying your first week?
Yes I have! There’s been lots of information to process, but I’m looking forward to mastering my role alongside the client team and giving it my all.
How did you find your first day?
My first day went well, everyone was very warm and welcoming.
What made you choose to apply for your job at Athona?
I just felt it was time for a fresh start after working in the NHS over the past 11 years. Also I didn’t think I could miss the opportunity of working with the acute team at Athona.
What have you found you like most so far about working with your team?
The friendly and supportive environment.
How have your co-workers helped you settle into your new job?
We had a welcome team lunch and I’ve also spent time with each member of the team getting to know them as individuals, what they do in their job role and how my role can support them and the team as a whole.
What part of your new job are you most looking forward to?
Interacting with clients, doctors and travelling the country visiting various Trusts.

Where were you before joining Athona?
I was actually at sixth form completing my A-levels.
Have you been enjoying your first week?
Yes, it has been a great first week, mainly due to it being my first actual job.
How did you find your first day?
My first day was good, after the induction welcoming us from HR, we went for a team lunch and then I got straight to work sorting out emails and using LinkedIn to find new radiologists.
What made you choose to apply for your job at Athona?
When I was told about the apprenticeship opportunity, I thought that it would be a great career path for me to follow.
What have you found you like most so far about working with your team?
Being part of a really important team.
How have your co-workers helped you settle into your new job?
They’ve helped me settle in very well and are always helping where needed.
What part of your new job are you most looking forward to?
Being able to place radiology consultants into their dream jobs.
