Job Description

Currently, we have an excellent opportunity for a Deputy Ward Manager to join our nursing team. As a key member of the ward leadership team, you will provide senior support and guidance to ensure the highest standards of care.

Salary: Up to £49,314 + £5000 welcome bonus

Position: Deputy Ward Manager

Hours: Full Time

Setting: Mental Health

Location: London SW15

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide senior nursing leadership to the ward team in support of the Ward Manager.
  • Ensure relevant policies and statutory requirements are applied and communicated to the team.
  • Assess and manage risks across the ward and ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Promote equality and diversity within the team, acting as a role model.
  • Identify skill mix deficits and staffing concerns, taking action to resolve them.
  • Supervise a defined group of staff, contributing to their development and training.
  • Address performance issues and ensure staff meet expected standards of care.
  • Promote a culture of learning, development, and team collaboration.
  • Implement and evaluate therapeutic interventions, enabling patients to develop coping strategies.
  • Take part in collaborative problem solving, supporting patients in identifying and solving their own issues.

For this role, we’re looking for someone who has:

  • A valid NMC PIN with a Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) qualification.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience in managing and supervising a team.
  • An understanding of mental health and learning disability care and therapeutic interventions.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to support and guide both patients and staff.
  • A commitment to maintaining high standards of care and ensuring safe staffing level
