Job Description

Currently we have an excellent opportunity for a counsellor/therapist to join out client’s children, you people and families service, which is open to children and young people living in the community of Mid Essex. Primarily based within schools, you will also be delivering bereavement therapy to children & young people online and at their hospice setting.

Salary: £20,709.00 – £24,364.20 per annum £34,515 – £40,607 (FTE)

We are looking for a highly motivated and qualified Counsellor/Therapist to join our clients well-established project team.

The role is an ideal opportunity for someone looking to join a highly regarded service and build on their skills and knowledge in the world of professional counselling.

You will be supported by a dedicated team and have access to excellent professional leadership and supervision.

The role will be based on 22.5 hours per week and will include a Thursday.

Your responsibilities will include

  • Provide therapy and group work for children and young people aged 4 to 18 facing bereavement, holding a complex caseload.
  • Guide and advise parents, carers, and professionals on best practices for supporting bereaved children and young people.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with colleagues, health, and social care professionals to deliver high-quality services.
  • Contribute to the evaluation, delivery, and continuous improvement of the Yo-Yo Project, ensuring it meets the highest standards.
  • Offer training to fellow professionals and collaborate closely with the Adults and Family Services team to support overall service development.

For this role, we’re looking for someone who is a;

Registered Counsellor/Therapist with an Advanced Diploma/Degree in Counselling/Social Work (RSW) or other relevant therapeutic discipline (e.g. Art, Music, Play Therapy, CBT) – BACP, HCPC etc
