Charlotte has been an apprentice in our nursing team for six months. She recently successfully completed her apprenticeship program and became our first ‘graduate’. Charlotte has now moved up into a full-time Sales Support role. We asked her about her experiences with us and her advice for students looking to take on an apprenticeship:
What were you doing before joining Athona?
I previously worked at another recruitment company for around nine months before transferring my apprenticeship to Athona. I decided to leave because I didn’t feel like I was progressing, unlike I do at Athona.
How did you find out about the apprenticeship scheme at Athona?
Through word of mouth. A friend of mine saw it advertised on Facebook and knew I wanted a change, so I transferred my apprenticeship.
What were your initial impressions when joining us?
It’s a lot more professional than anywhere I’ve previously been. I was welcomed straight away and everyone is friendly.
I also think the lunch & learns are great and make you feel part of the team.
How have the nursing team been?
Really good and welcoming.
What’s the best part of your role?
I like speaking with nurses and as cringeworthy as it sounds, I’ve never felt this happy in a job before. I never think, I don’t want to be here.
What advice would you give to others looking to start an apprenticeship?
Don’t fall behind with your work. Try and find time around your working hours to keep on top of your work.
What are your aspirations for the future?
I would like to become a recruitment consultant. I think I would be good at it as I’m a talkative, friendly person. Recruitment’s based around building relationships, and that’s what I enjoy.
All my family work in health care so I would want to stay within the industry.
Do Charlotte’s experiences with us inspire you to want to join our fun and growing company? We’re looking for talented and ambitious people to join us as apprentices. Could you be one of our future graduates? Get in touch to find out more:
