After joining us last August, our latest apprenticeship graduate, Jess, has spent the past year with our education team. Working closely alongside our primary team as an account manager, Jess will continue with the success she has already achieved in this role and begin her full-time recruitment career here at Athona. We spoke to Jess about her experiences as an apprentice at Athona and asked what advice she has for anyone looking to undertake an apprenticeship.
What were you doing before joining Athona?
Before I joined Athona, I attended sixth form and had a part time role at a David Lloyd Leisure Centre as a Kids Coach.
How did you find out about the apprenticeship scheme at Athona?
Athona was referred to me by a friend and she suggested I should enquire more about the apprenticeship scheme.
What were your initial impressions when joining us?
I was initially nervous, but I settled in very quickly and have supportive colleagues to work with.
How have the education team been?
The education team are very supportive and were welcoming from the start. I get on well with my colleagues and they’re always really helpful if I ever have any questions.
What’s the best part of your role?
I really enjoy that I am constantly speaking to clients and candidates and getting to know them. I definitely think this helps with the delivery of my customer service.
What advice would you give to others looking to start an apprenticeship?
My best advice would be to ensure that you start an apprenticeship in an industry that is of genuine interest to you, as this helps you to enjoy your work.
What are your aspirations for the future?
I hope to continue a successful future at Athona.
