In August 2013 Athona Recruitment set themselves a mammoth target of raising £10,000 in just 12 months for Little Havens Children’s Hospice based in Thundersley, Essex, and are delighted to announce they have exceeded this by raising an amazing £11,110.86.
Throughout the year Athona employees took part in a number of challenges including a 24 hour cycle challenge, the London Marathon, Southend Half Marathon, 5k Santa run and held a fantastic quiz night as well as a Great Gatsby themed charity ball which was a huge success.
On Wednesday, 12th November, Athona’s Managing Director Stewart London, Director Tina London and Senior Marketing Executive Candice Marnell presented Little Havens’ Corporate Fundraiser Lydia Plews with the cheque.
Managing Director, Stewart London said: “When we initially set out to raise £10,000 in 12 months for Little Havens Children’s Hospice, I knew it would be a challenging feat but I was confident we would succeed. I am incredibly proud of all the efforts from Athona’s employees in helping us not only meet but exceed our target.”
Speaking of the amazing fundraising work Athona employees have achieved, Little Havens’ Corporate Fundraiser Lydia Plews said “When a family has been told that there’s no cure for their child’s illness, Little Havens Hospice can help. We’re here to make the journey as comfortable as possible, controlling pain and medication, offering respite and caring for babies, children and teenagers at the end of their lives. Our specialist care is free – for as long as is needed – within the family home and at our hospice. We’re a registered charity – not part of the NHS – and receive limited government funding. Our hospice can only exist because of the kindness of out supporters like Athona. Together, we’re ‘Making every day count’ for those we care for.”
Athona hope to mirror last year’s success for this year’s chosen charities which are local charity Saint Francis Hospice, National Charity Guide Dogs and local animal shelter Hopefield Animal Sanctuary.
Athona held a quiz night in aid of Hopefield in October raising an incredible £995.16 and after the success of their Charity ball earlier in the year, will be holding a Las Vegas themed charity ball on Saturday, 18th April 2015 for Saint Francis Hospice and Guide Dogs. Athona will also be organising and taking part in various fundraising actives throughout the upcoming year.
