Why were you interested in moving to the UK?
Job opportunities for newly qualified Radiographers in Italy is very poor, I’ve always wanted to obtain international job experience to test my skills and learn another language, so moving to the UK was appealing.
How are you finding living in the UK so far?
I’m enjoying living here – I’ve made a lot of friends and I really like where I work and my colleagues.
What do you love most about living in the UK?
The things I like here is the respect given from patients and NHS staff.
Can you tell us what your typical working day is like?
I work 10 hour shifts over four days, plus some overtime. Working in cross sectional radiography over the weekend is hard sometimes due to emergencies, but it’s very satisfying as you can learn a lot. There is always something new happening every day here, so there isn’t any time to get bored.
Is living in the UK different than you thought it would be? If so, how?
I didn’t know what to expect of life here in the UK, other than the initial language difficulties. I haven’t found it too different from Italy – apart from maybe the differences in lunch and dinner times.
What advice would you give to another healthcare professional looking to relocate to the UK?
If you’re interested in coming the UK I would say don’t waste any time, just come! There are lots of opportunities to grow as a healthcare professional.

I’ve received a lot of support from the whole recruitment team, everyone has been very kind and helpful especially with my paperwork queries. Without them I might have never started work in the UK.
