Meet Lacie, she is a Sales Consultant apprentice for our surgery team. Find out here what her day-to-day life is like at Athona.

What does a typical day look like for you?

A typical day for me starts off by me sitting at my desk and getting out all of the things I will need for the day, such as my note pad and pen and then getting up all of the appropriate things on my computer that I will need like my emails, LinkedIn, GMC website, Itris and relevant spreadsheets. During the day I carry out a number of tasks, for example calling and emailing doctors and completing forms for the Recruitment Consultants on my team. I usually take my lunch at 1pm, then return to work again at 2pm. At this time I carry on with the same tasks from the morning. Every day I am required to complete at least one and a half hours of my apprenticeship work so I usually begin this at 4pm and continue doing this until 5:30pm which is when we finish.

What tasks do you complete on a day-to-day basis?

On a day-to-day basis I complete a range of tasks. The main tasks I carry out are looking for new doctors on LinkedIn, completing telephone registration forms, emailing and calling doctors for their availability for work and also chasing documents from doctors such as time sheets and compliance documents. Alongside this I also complete my own apprenticeship work.

What’s your favourite part about working with Athona?

My favourite thing about working with Athona is the people. Everyone here is so friendly and although they all care about their job and work hard, they also like to have a laugh at the same time, which makes it an amazing place to work.

What is your proudest achievement so far?

My proudest achievement so far is sourcing my very own doctor. Although this doesn’t seem like a very big deal, sourcing doctors can sometimes be very difficult and it takes a lot of hard work, therefore I was extremely proud of myself when I eventually did this without any help.

Is recruitment what you thought it would be?

Recruitment is completely different to what I thought it would be. I expected the environment to be really serious and strict, however, the recruitment environment is so friendly and chilled. It’s a very fun sector to work in as you get to speak to so many people every day.

What is the best bit of advice you’ve been given?

The best piece of advice I have been given since working at Athona is to not be afraid to ask for help. This seemed really intimidating at first and even still now I get nervous to ask for help, but everyone here loves it when you ask for help. Asking for help shows that you’re keen to learn more and that you care about your job rather than you sitting in silence and not doing anything.
