We have an excellent permanent job opportunity for a General Adult & Rehab Consultant Psychiatrist to work for a private service based in Dublin.
The post of Consultant Psychiatrist is a pivotal post with responsibility to lead a multi-disciplinary clinical team and ensuring that the highest standard of clinical care is planned, delivered and evaluated and that all targets and objectives are met in line with national and local standards. As Consultant Psychiatrist s/he will have overall responsibility for the:
Salary: £185,000.00 to £222,222.00 per annum
Position: General Adult & Rehab Consultant Psychiatrist
Hours: Full time
Setting: The consultants’ skillset and experience will determine the units/wards they’ll be looking after, but typically between 30 and 40 depending on occupancy levels. It may be a little more or a little less.
Location: Ireland, Dublin
For this role, we’re looking for someone who is:
- Full registration in the Specialist Register (Psychiatrist) of Medical Practitioners maintained by the Medical Council in Ireland or entitlement to be so registered.
- Registered as a general adult psychiatrist with a sub specialised interest in either Psychiatry of Later Life or Neuropsychiatry desirable.
- Have a management level or position of additional responsibility to their clinical area.
- Demonstrate an ability to lead change and to develop clinical services.
- Energetic individual with solid clinical experience in working with a team of diverse clinicians and strong knowledge of the concepts and operation of Clinical Governance.
- Strong ability to teach, manage, participate and play a key role in the practice and education of medical students, medical staff, nursing and other allied health professions and promote and engage in the teaching/training/support of others as appropriate.
- Have a good knowledge and experience of health, safety and other statutory regulations affecting a healthcare organisation.
- Ability to deliver core contracted hours and to undertake on call as a member of a rota.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Participate in development of and undertake all duties and functions pertinent to the Consultant’s area of competence and in line with policies as specified by the Clinical Director.
- Work collaboratively with the Clinical Director to support the development and delivery of operational and strategic plans.
- Advise the Clinical Director of clinical priorities and pressures and be an active participant in strategic development discussions.
- Provide for and ensure the delivery of positive patient and resident outcomes and with the continued strive for excellence.
- Management of the clinical team members as designated by the Clinical Director.
- Liaise with clinical colleagues, the Clinical Director, Director of Nursing, Medical Officer and other clinical disciplines to ensure that activities across the centre are appropriately co-ordinated and integrated.
- Develop new innovative ways of delivering clinical services.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant HSE and Mental Health Commission requirements, including adherence to MHC regulations on care planning and medication management.
- Ensure that a positive working relationship with external partners including Health Service Executive, Private Health Insurers and other Academic Institutions is maintained.
- Ensure that systems are in place to deliver accurately and in timely fashion, all statutory information requirements including, for example, Data Protection and Freedom of Information.
