Job Description

Currently, we have an excellent opportunity for a Ward Manager to join a dynamic team at a renowned mental health facility in Bristol, managing a mixed acute ward.

Salary: Up to £ 53,329

Position: Ward Manager

Hours: Full Time 37.5

Setting: Acute Mental Health Ward

Location: Bristol, BS16

Key Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing nursing staff rotas and ensuring effective e-rostering.
  • Acting as a role model, mentor, and leader to promote learning and professionalism.
  • Ensuring high standards of patient care and clinical practices on the ward.
  • Leading recruitment and retention efforts for the ward staff.
  • Conducting clinical investigations, complaints, and HR-related investigations.
  • Ensuring compliance with the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act, and Deprivation of Liberties.
  • Managing Medicines and ensuring competency-based assessments for nursing staff.
  • Leading on-call rota duties and being available when required.
  • Promoting a culture of continuous improvement and staff development.
  • Supporting the multidisciplinary team in delivering high-quality patient care.

For this role, we’re looking for someone who has:

  • NMC registration as a first-level nurse or HCPC registration.
  • At least 2 years of supervisory experience in a relevant care setting.
  • Experience in mental health care or relevant clinical settings.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
  • Willingness to undertake further training in clinical, managerial, and leadership areas.
