It’s now been 18 months since Jess joined Athona as a Digital Marketing Assistant Apprentice, so we sat down with her for the final time to discuss where she is now in her career at Athona.

It’s been 8 months since we last spoke to you, how have you been getting on with your apprenticeship?
In July 2023, I completed the final stages of my apprenticeship which consisted of a 4-day synoptic project and an end point assessment interview with training providers, City and Guilds. Upon completion of these tasks, I was extremely pleased to have received a distinction as my overall grade for the apprenticeship – a grade that I was striving for throughout the 17-month course.
Now you’ve completed the apprenticeship, what are your next steps?
Since finishing my apprenticeship, I have been recently promoted to Marketing Executive within the marketing team here at Athona. I was beyond thrilled to have received this promotion and continue to take on new projects and tasks every day to ensure I am continuing to push myself within my newly appointed role. As the Marketing Executive, I work closely alongside the Marketing Manager, Kerry, to deliver a range of marketing collateral for both our recruiters and our candidates and clients. From monitoring and producing content for our website, creating new videos, infographics and images for our social media platforms, to designing eye-catching mailshots to send out to both our candidates and clients, there’s never a dull moment in our team!
What is your favourite aspect about your new role and Athona?
Due to Athona having us as their only in-house marketing team, my role is incredibly diverse and varied – which is personally one of my favourite things about my role! Being able to work in such a friendly and approachable team makes all the difference as I am trusted to be able to independently take on projects, as well as having the opportunity to work closely with the Marketing Manager and our external digital marketing agency on projects such as the SEO and PPC aspects of our website.
My favourite aspect of working at Athona is definitely the company culture and the amazing list of benefits available to all employees. Everyone who works here is amiable and creates a fun environment to work in. From Friday social, to annual abroad incentives, Athona encourages people from every team to mix and socialise to build strong working relationships with one another – which makes our social events even more enjoyable!
What are your future aspirations?
I hope to continue progressing in my career at Athona whilst hopefully excelling in my new position with its increased responsibility. I have had an incredible and unforgettable 18 months so far at Athona, and I thoroughly look forward to my future within the company and the marketing industry.
